IL 15 to close for railroad crossing repairs

MT. VERNON, IL (KFVS) - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that IL 15 will be closed while the Union Pacific Railroad crews repair the eastbound railroad crossing.

Crews will be working Thursday, August 11 on the crossing on the east side of Mt. Vernon.

IDOT urges drivers to follow marked detour routes because no traffic will be permitted through the construction area.

According to IDOT, they expect repairs to take one day.

Ill. Rte. 142 to close during railroad crossing repairs

MT. VERNON, IL (KFVS) - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that IL Route 142 will be closed while crews repair the railroad crossing.

The Union Pacific Railroad crew will be working Wednesday, August 10 starting at 7 a.m.

Crews will be working on the crossing on the south edge of Mt. Vernon.

IDOT encourages drivers to follow marked detour routes because no traffic will be allowed in the area while repairs are being made.

According to IDOT, repairs are expected to take one day.

ILLINOIS (KFVS) - The American Red Cross is still looking for blood donors.

The following blood drives will be in August in several areas around Southern Illinois.

Gathering of Quilts Exhibition in Mt. Vernon

MT. VERNON, IL (KFVS) - The 22nd Annual Gathering of Quilts exhibition will feature quilts made by the Cedarhurst Quilters.

Quilts will be displayed in the Regenhardt Gallery at Shrode Art Center as well as the Beal Grand Corridor Gallery inside the Mitchell Museum, both located at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts in Mt. Vernon, Ill.

Several quilts in the show tell a family story or the design honors their heritage or the memory of a loved one, along with many other wonderful textile talents.

The exhibit will be open August 6 through October 16. A Preview Reception will be held Saturday, August 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with quilters sharing their experiences and history of quilting.

A special bed turning program will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 14 in the Beal Grand Corridor at Mitchell Museum and feature quilts made by charter members of the Cedarhurst Quilters.

Hours for viewing the quilt exhibitions are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
