Jazz vocalist to perform at Cedarhurst | Arts & Culture
MOUNT VERNON, IL (KFVS) - Southern Illinois’ native Jaimee Paul and her jazz combo will take the stage at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, October 13 for the first concert of the 2012-2013 Cedarhurst Music Series.
Paul, accompanied by an ensemble that includes husband and trumpet player Leif Shires pay tribute to many of the great “girl singers” of our time including Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Rosemary Clooney and others.
The Oct. 13 performance, sponsored by Michael and Rita Podolsky and WDML 106.9 FM and cosponsored by Dr. and Mrs. Gerald Fox will be in the Mitchell Museum Performance Hall at Cedarhurst.
Paul’s love of music was influenced by her parents and her music and vocal talent further cultivated over the years in both church and school. Confident in her vocal performance, Jaimee turned her focus to the study of Music Business and graduated from Belmont University in 1999. During college and after, she continued to pursue gospel and jazz opportunities as well as interning and working for several music industry businesses in Nashville including Sony Music, BMI and CCM Magazine.
Nashville-based trumpet player Leif Shires and Paul married in 2007, and collaborate together on projects when possible. For more information on Jaimee Paul visit www.alkahestartists.com.
Individual ticket prices for the Oct. 13 concert are $20 for adults; Cedarhurst members $18, students and music teachers $5 each and can be purchased at the door.
