MT. VERNON, IL (KFVS) - The Illinois Brass Quintet will perform Sunday, April 15 at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts as part of the Cedarhurst Chamber Music 2011-2012 concert series.
The IBQ, founded in 1955 by the late University of Illinois trumpet professor Haskell Sexton, is made up of University of Illinois faculty quintet living in Urbana-Champaign. Over the past 57 years, the quintet has received many honors and accolades including the designation of being the first faculty brass quintet and pioneering recordings in the Music Minus One series. Current members of the quintet have performed with major orchestras in the United States and abroad including the Cleveland Orchestra, Honolulu Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Milwaukee Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic and St. Louis Symphony.
Today, the quintet is active presenting recitals, clinics and masterclasses at secondary schools, colleges, and universities throughout the country.
