Since it began 10 years ago, the Daedulus Quartet has performed in many of the world's leading musical venues. They have been praised from critics and listeners alike for the security, technical finish and interpretive units.

You can register now for basic guitar lessons class

INA, IL (KFVS) - Rend Lake College Community and Corporate Education is offering a five-session course for those who would like to learn the basics of playing the guitar.

Guitar for Beginners will be offered from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays, March 23 - April 27, at the Historic Schoolhouse on the RLC main campus in Ina.

RLC says this course was designed for beginning guitar players. Instructor Joe Palermo will show students the basic knowledge needed to play the guitar. Students will learn about the fret board and how to read notes used for playing the guitar. Basic left-hand and right-hand techniques, scales, chords, and various styles/genre will also be covered.

The registration fee is $50. Students should bring their acoustic guitar and must be at least 10 years old to register. This class will not meet on April 6, due to the Good Friday holiday.

"Anything Goes" to be featured at the RLC

MT. VERNON, IL (KFVS) - The RLC will feature their spring musical called "Anything Goes" March 8-11.

The musical will be featured at the Rend Lake College Theatre located at 468 N. Ken Gray Parkway in Ina, Ill. Showtimes will be at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Library to host percussion workshop

MT. VERNON, IL (KFVS) - The C.E. Brehm Memorial Library will host a percussion workshop at 6:30 p.m. on March 8.

Chad Schott will discuss research that points out the documented medical benefits of drumming and its affects on stress and immune system function. After the discussion, the audience will participate in a small drum circle.

The Kaskaskia District, Greater St. Louis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America is offering basic Cub Scout leader training on Saturday, March 3rd.

The training will take place at Murphysboro United Methodist Church at 1500 W. Pine Street. The training session begins at 9:00 a.m.

Herb, garden show scheduled in Mt. Vernon

MT. VERNON, IL (KFVS) - The Midwestern Herb and Garden Show will be Feb. 10-12 at Times Square Mall.

The show will be Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. 9 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Organizers say more than 40 exhibitors will display everything for a garden, with booths of fresh herbs-culinary, medicinal and decorative; water plants, dried flower arrangements, books, woodcarving, etc. Admission is free.

Program to feature interpretation of first Jefferson Co. settler

MT. VERNON, IL (KFVS) - The Jefferson County Historical Village and local historian Sid Milliner will present Andrew Moore, the first settler in Jefferson County, on Tuesday, Jan. 31.

The program starts at 6:30 p.m. when Milliner will do a first-person interpretation of Andrew Moore and the trials and tribulations he faced in Jefferson County in the early 1800s.
