MOUNT VERNON, IL (KFVS) - The new Good Samaritan Regional Health Center reached another milestone recently, eclipsing the 75-percent completion plateau.

As of last week, the new medical campus in Mt. Vernon had reached 78-percent completion with a total construction cost of $139.2 million having been spent on the state-of-the-art facilities.

“Building a new medical campus like Good Samaritan Regional Health Center is a huge undertaking,” said Mike Warren, president of Good Samaritan Regional Health Center. “With new facilities, amenities, technology, and services, it’s hard to imagine all the changes. However, with construction now more than 75 percent complete, the reality of the new facility is coming into focus. If you’re a patient, visitor, or loved one, there’s some aspect of Good Samaritan Regional Health Center that is uniquely planned for you.”

The new health center will include spacious, all-private patient rooms. These hotel-like rooms will be complete with private bathrooms, flat-screen televisions and overnight accommodations for loved ones.

“Going to the hospital can be a hectic and sometimes overwhelming experience,” said Christina Adams, vice president of operations at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center. “Although this will be a major health care destination, we’ve designed the facilities to be as easy to navigate and stress-free as possible.”

For example, the new facility will include free parking. Physician offices on campus are located just steps away from the hospital’s imaging and laboratory areas; and multiple building entrances make it easy to find where you are going.

Upcoming events for the new center include:
