Stephen Foster and the Rise of American Music in Mt. Vernon Feb. 2
MOUNT VERNON, IL (KFVS) -The Jefferson County Historical Village will host Stephen Foster and the Rise of American Music on February 2 at 1 p.m.
An Illinois Humanities Council Road Scholar program, Chris Vallillo will sing and discuss Foster's songs, which were known and sung around the world and played a large part in the creation of an emerging popular American culture in the 1800s.
Admission is free. The village is located at 1411 North 27th Street.
