Bluford Methodist church to celebrate homecoming Oct. 14

BLUFORD, IL (KFVS) - Otterbein United Methodist Church in Bluford will host a homecoming celebration on Sunday, October 14.

Otterbein United Methodist Church was built in Bluford after the Oakdale Evangelical United Brethren and Bluford Evangelical United Brethren Churches merged in 1973. The current church building was designed and built and the new joint congregation moved in on Mother’s Day in 1975.

Organizers say Sunday will be a celebration of old and new members, friends and neighbors. A special homecoming service will begin at 10:45 a.m.  Following the service, everyone is invited to a meal of smoked chicken, ham, sides and desserts provided by the congregation. Music will be provided by the West Salem Trinity United Methodist Church of Mt. Vernon Praise band. Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs if they are able as the celebration will be outside, weather permitting. Picnic tables and additional chairs will be available as well.
