I-57 NB, I-64 WB to be reduced for bridge work | News
JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The Illinois Department of Transportation would like to alert drivers traveling Interstate 57 northbound and I-64 westbound of an upcoming lane reduction from mile marker 91 to mile marker 96 in Jefferson County, weather permitting.
Northbound 57/Westbound 64 traffic will be reduced to one lane beginning Tuesday, October 15, from mile marker 91 to mile marker 96, to allow the contractor to complete the bridge work and striping in the northbound lanes.
Upon completion of the striping the northbound lane from mile marker 92 to 96 will return to two lane traffic. One lane traffic will remain from mile marker 91 to mile marker 92 to complete the remaining work in the northbound lanes.
The five mile lane closure should be in place for about two to three days. The remaining one mile lane closure will be in place until mid-November.
The northbound exit and entrance ramps at Veteran's Memorial Drive and IL 15 will remain open.
According to IDOT, drivers should expect major delays, reduce speed, be alert to equipment and workers and use extreme caution when traveling through this area. To avoid any delays drivers should seek an alternate route.
