Carbondale man sentenced for drug-induced homicide of woman

JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS)- A Carbondale man was sentenced to 17 years in prison for the drug-induced death of a woman in June 2011.

Aaron D. Burton, 42, of Carbondale was sentenced to 17 years for drug-induced homicide.

He was arrested on June 13, 2011.

Lacey Kimple, 25, of Mt. Vernon was found unresponsive in the bathroom of a Huck's convenience store in Mt. Vernon on June 13. Kimple was Burton's girlfriend.

She died of a heroin overdose.

During the trial, the state's attorney presented evidence from a separate incident in Carbondale in 2006 when a man was stabbed to death.  Burton pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in that case.
