MT. VERNON, IL (KFVS)- Two young adults were killed in a crash on Interstate 64 near Mt. Vernon early Tuesday morning. Illinois State Police say DUI drugs were involved.
Holly C. Fenton, 24, of Bluford and Cody A. Bidabe, 20, of Fairfield were killed in the crash.
They were both passengers in a black Doge pickup truck that drove into the I-64 eastbound rest area east of Mt. Vernon and struck a tree.
The driver, Robert T. Hayes, 19, of Bluford and another male and female passenger were taken to an area hospital. Two people are in serious condition.
No one was wearing a seatbelt, according to the Illinois State Police.
ISP blames DUI drugs as a factor in the crash.
An investigation is ongoing.
