Bicyclist killed in crash in Jefferson County | News

JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS)- A death investigation is underway in Jefferson County, Illinois after a bicyclist is killed in a crash.

According to the sheriff's office, it happened Thursday night around 7;25 on Highway 37 near the intersection of Davis Road North in Bonnie.

Sheriff Roger Mulch says Anthony M. Swainston, 18, of rural Woodlawn, Illinois was killed in the crash.

He says Swainston was hit by a truck causing traumatic injury that resulted in his death at the scene.

According to Mulch, Swainston had operated his bike into the path of the truck.

No foul play, drug or alcohol involvement is suspected.

The crash remains under investigation by the accident reconstruction division of the sheriff's office.
