JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) – Board Chairman Robert White appointed a special committee to provide information to the public about proposed courthouse renovations in Mt. Vernon, Ill.
The Special Committee of the Jefferson County Board for Courthouse Repairs committee includes board members Randy Edwards, James Malone, Tommy Williams and Jeremy Hall.
The committee will set up town hall meetings to educate the public on the problems facing the Jefferson County Courthouse.
The repairs would include fixing the leaking water in the courthouse, getting rid of mold and asbestos, updating the electrical, heating and cooling systems and address Americans with Disabilities Act compliance issues, such as installing wheelchair ramps.
The committee will also provide the information about the renovations on the county’s website and conduct scheduled tours of the courthouse for public inspection of the proposed repairs.
